May 8, 1974 – Magdeburg vs. Milan 2:0: In the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup, Magdeburg defeats Milan 2:0 – thanks to an own goal and a strike from Wolfgang Seguin. In front of over 7,000 traveling fans, the club from the GDR writes football history and becomes the only East German club to win a European trophy.
